A Morning At The Zoo

After the race we got medals and food! The boys really had a good time. The boys really liked the zoo. It has changed a lot since the last time I was there.
One of the cool things we got to do was to feed the giraffes.
We got there at the end of the feeding so they weren't very hungry. The baby giraffe was really cute.

We ended up walking 7 1/2 miles including the race and the zoo. We were VERY tired. We being me and Matt, not the boys!

5K Family Style

Yesterday we participated in the Link 4 Life run at the Sedgwick County Zoo. It was a 5K (3 mile) race (well, more of a walk/pull). Jarrett started out on Chris's shoulders but that didn't last long. Jackson wasn't excited about being up so early on a Saturday. The race started at 7:45. It was about 45 degrees and he was cold so Chris gave him his gloves.
Matt pulled the wagon the whole way. Jarrett was in and out of the wagon but ended up riding most of the way.
Here we are after the race. We finished in about 50 minutes. Chris finished ahead of us but we don't know what his time was.
I plan to do the River Run this year. It is a 10K (6 miles). I'm trying to get Chris to do it with me.

4th Of July Celebration

We celebrated with our neighbors. After a great dinner we went swimming. Jackson wore a swim suit with floaty things in it. He looked like a wrestler because it was a bit small. Chris, Jarrett and Alex were the first ones in the pool.
Jackson, Tammy, Steve and Matt waited a little bit to get in.
Jarrett eventually swam without help wearing a life jacket. At first he wouldn't let go of someone or something.
After we swam it was time for fireworks. Jackson and Jarrett found comfortable chairs to watch at first but ended up playing cars and trucks in the garage.
Steve, Tammy, Alina and Jackson got good seats for the show.
Alina, Jackson, Jarrett and Matt wait while Emily gets out the fireworks.
Chris and Alex lit most of them.
Emily lit some too.
Chris, Alex, Alina and Emily lit fountains at the same time and gave us a wonderful show. We had a good time.

Bowling With The Boys

Last night we went to West Acres and bowled a few games. Rose Bowl West has closed their doors because they lost their lease so we had to go somewhere else. Jarrett is quite the bowler. He is the reason we went. He LOVES it.

He uses a 6 pound ball and usually starts his approach back by the stairs.

Jackson was using a rail thing because he couldn't throw the ball with enough force to make it down the alley so Jarrett used it a few times.

Jackson was very excited. This was his first time bowling and we couldn't keep him from picking up all the bowling balls. Step 1, find the ball.
Step 2, carry it up to the silver thing.
Step 3, have someone help you put the ball on the silver thing.
Step 4, push the bowling ball.
Step 5, watch the ball hit the pins, hopefully.

I almost forgot to mention their scores. Jarrett got a 73 and Jackson got a 70. Not too bad. Matt asked if he could use the silver thing and I told him no.

Wednesday Night Is In The Basket

Matt was picking up blocks and putting them in the laundry basket and Jackson decided to help so he began taking the blocks out of the basket and throwing them back on the floor. Eventually he climbed in the basket and Matt just gave up.

Happy Mother's Day

The day began at church where there was a "baby" dedication. Since we were new to the church, we decided to have Jarrett and Jackson dedicated. The pastor introduced us to the church and then prayed over Jarrett and Jackson. Both boys got a "Baby's First Bible" and a certificate that says:

Certificate of Dedication
This is to certify that
Jarrett & Jackson Blattner
were presented to the Lord in Dedication
by Matt & Teresa Blattner
at Evangel Assembly of God, Wichita, Kansas
on the 10th of May, 2009
Rev. Vance A Cauthon, Pastor
We also each got a flower.
Thanks to Kayla for taking pictures for us.
After church we went to my parents house and had lunch with them and my brother and his family. We had a good time. Happy Mother's Day!

Stop The World, I Want To Get Off

Saturday morning Jackson started feeling ill and for 3 days has puked up everything we've given him. He is mildly dehydrated but is on his way to feeling better. Today, Jarrett got sick. This is day 4 on the puke train and Matt and I are done. If Jarrett follows the same pattern as Jackson, we have 2 more days. I just pray that it is almost over and that no one else gets sick. Here is a picture from a few weeks ago. I'll post again as soon as they are both well.

Final Bedroom Pictures

Here is the finished product. What do you think? The stairs have drawers in them. I put Jarrett's clothes in them and left Jackson's in the big dresser. The boys really like to top bunk. Jackson doesn't get up there much. He would live there if we'd let him. We put a board down so no more quick escapes. It works well with the tent that is on the bed.
Here is a picture of the board. It makes a good track too. Jarrett and I were racing cars on it.
Jackson really likes the stairs. He gets REALLY mad when he can't get on them or when we take him off. He has no fear and is quite the climber.
Matt put a door on the stairs and that made Jackson REALLY REALLY mad.
Jarrett has been really excited about his new bed, not that he has slept in it or anything.
We will have to take baby steps. We'll try sleeping on the bottom bunk first. For now Jackson is still in the crib. I'm not ready for him to roam the house at night . . .
