The Keeper Of The Plains

The Keeper of the Plains is a 44 foot steel sculpture that stands at the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers.Surrounding the base of the statue are multiple displays which describe the local tribes that used to inhabit the area as well as fire pits which sometimes light up to illuminate the statue at night. Several years ago the area was remodeled and bridges were added.

This is a picture from the bridge looking up.

It was very pretty. The rivers are high due to all the rain we have received recently.

It is near the Mid-America All-Indian Center and Exploration Place.

This is a picture of Exploration Place.

It was built in 1974 to mark the United States bicentennial.

This is where the rivers meet.

Sundown Parade

Friday Jarrett, Jackson, Pam, Pam's Mom and I went to the parade downtown. There were a lot of people there so Jarrett stood in the stroller for a while so he could see.
They had bands, dance groups, advertisers and a few floats.
There were a LOT of people out enjoying the weather and the parade.
I'm not sure exactly what this is.
Jackson spent some time on Pam's shoulders.
Here is Jarrett on my shoulders.
Thanks to Pam and her Mom for going with us. We had a good time.
