Chris's football game and other updates

Last night Chris played football against Salina South High School. He recovered a fumble, helped to stop Salina from scoring 2 on an extra point and had several good tackles to help Maize defeat Salina 36 to 28 in overtime. It was a real good game and if we figure out how to get the video off my camera we will post it here. I don't have any pictures because the zoom on my camera doesn't zoom enough.

In other news, Jarrett went pee-pee in the potty this morning. For those who know how much we have struggled with Jarrett lately you know how big a deal that is. We are planning to take Jarrett to Aunt Kay so she can give us her opinion on his speech and if she thinks he needs therapy or not. Right now we have 2 opinions, Heartspring says yes and Maize said no. Jarrett has been moved to a new room at preschool so he can be with kids his own age despite his lack of potty training. He is doing better discipline wise but yesterday he pushed another kid and the other kid retaliated. Maybe that will make him think twice next time. Overall I think he is doing better. Once a week he is visited by someone from the Maize school district to help with "delays in social/emotional, behavioral and fine motor skills." Please say a prayer for us. It has been very stressful.

One other thing, I am trying to get blood allergy tests for Jarrett and Jackson. I know they are allergic to something we just aren't sure what. Skin tests were done on Jarrett in July but he was supposed to stay still for 20 minutes for the test to be good and you can just imagine how that went. That's all for now.

I'm seeing a trend

Saturday morning I caught Jarrett in the act of climbing into Jackson's bed.

Here is Jackson when he woke up from his nap.
Jarrett climbed in with him again.
Also, here is Jackson in our front yard.

Brotherly Love

This morning Jarrett climbed into bed with Jackson so I had to take their picture. It was tough to take a good picture since it was early in the morning and neither one of them liked the flash. I had to aim the camera at the wall and aim at the last second which is why I got just as much wall as kids in the picture.

Sunday at Grandma and Grandpa's

Sunday after church we went to my parents house for lunch and some flying. Grandma made spaghetti and Grandpa helped the boys fly airplanes. Here is my nephew Rodney enjoying lunch.
This is my youngest nephew Skyler (with Chris and his big hair in the back ground).
Grandpa and Jarrett putting together an airplane.
Jarrett and Grandpa repairing the airplane after a crash landing.
Matt (Daddy) and Jackson in his K-State best.
My brother Roger, his wife Krista and Chris.
Jackson enjoyed his lunch so much that his clean up ALMOST involved a hosing off in the back yard.
Grandma was so busy cooking and cleaning that I didn't take her picture. The boys had fun with their airplanes. Skyler got one of his stuck on the roof. He and Chris tried to get it down by throwing a ball at it but I think it was damaged in the process. Chris got his hair rebraided Sunday afternoon and even after telling him SEVERAL times to take pictures he didn't. Chris made an interception in one of his football games. I have it on tape and will try to get it on the blog as soon as I can figure out how.

Diaper Rash? Try this . . .

Jackson has developed a diaper rash that is just awful. Jarrett had several when he was a baby and I have been in search of something to use that is fast and effective. One of the other mothers at the preschool recommended a product called Triple Paste. I put it on him last night and this morning the bleeding had stopped and he was much happier. It was a little expensive but very worth it. It cost me $14.00 for a medium jar. You can check out the product at http://www.triplepaste.com/.

It's raining

It has rained quite a bit lately. It has rained so much today that I couldn't get to the preschool much less work. I am at home today. A lot of the roads are flooded here in west Wichita.

September 11

On the morning of September 11, 2001 I was working from home. I had the TV on for background noise and when Good Morning America interrupted Good Morning America with breaking news, it caught my attention. I watched as everything unfolded and was shocked to see the devastation. I watched for days on CNN and MSNBC but somehow it didn't seem as real as when I visited ground zero in May 2006. I was surprised at how big the area was where the twin towers stood.

This picture was taken from the lower level where the subway is.

Here is a picture of the timeline of events from that day that are displayed at ground zero along with pictures and plans for what is to be built on the site.

Maize Eagles win first JV game

Chris played in his first game this evening against Valley Center. We won 36-0. Chris played wide receiver and line backer. Here he is . . . number 49 in your program, number 1 in your heart . . . Chris!

Here is Chris with Coach Wendel Davis.

Jackson's First Day At Daycare

Today is Jackson's first day at daycare. He joined big brother Jarrett at a Preschool/Daycare so I don't have to drive to 2 different places every day. Here he is having breakfast with his new class. Tonight is Chris's first football game. I will let you know how they do. Go Maize Eagles!

Pancake Feed

Several weeks ago the Maize High School football team had their annual pancake feed. Here is a nice picture of Chris without his braids. Does all that hair fit in a helmet?

Here are Grandpa, Grandma and Jackson enjoying breakfast.

Bowling - A family tradition

Last night we went bowling. It was Jarrett's idea and he seems to be a natural. His approach started out short and ended up being quite long. He would pick up the ball and go back as far as he could and run up and throw it. Here is Dad giving some pointers.

Here is Jarrett. He can't keep his eyes open because of the flash.
